Project Goal:

Learn to use a jeweler’s saw by cutting both the exterior shape and interior negative space of a metal object.

Things to do:

1. Take only 1 or 2 pieces of metal.
2. Trace your metal on paper and design in that space. HINT: the metal is actually a little smaller.
3. Show your design to the teacher to get it glued onto the metal for cutting.
4. Cut out your shape with a jewelry saw and bench.
5. File the edge of the metal to perfect the cut shape.
6. Round over the edges of your piece with a file.
7. Sand your piece working from low grit to high grit to polish your piece.

Maintenance:

1. Saw only metal.
2. Always use a jeweler’s bench.
3. Use tools gently.
4. Wash table top with wet rag.
5. Wash hands with soap and water.
